Bishop Larry J. Lloyd, Ph.D.
Bishop Larry J. Lloyd is the founder and general overseer of Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship and Global Ministries in Lafayette, Louisiana. He is also the founder of the Prophetic School For Life and Ministry in Lafayette, LA, Los Angeles, CA, and South Africa. Lloyd was ordained in 1973 by the Western Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ in Shreveport, Louisiana. With thirty-eight years of preaching, teaching, and administrative responsibilities, Lloyd is considered to be a veteran facilitator with excellent oral communication skills. He has demonstrated proficiency in mentoring, curriculum development, and strategic planning and leadership development.
Lloyd’s educational background includes the completion of a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies in the summer of 2004 from Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Intercultural Studies. He holds two Masters Degrees in Theology and Intercultural Studies from Fuller’s School of Theology and School of Intercultural Studies in 1992 and 1993, respectively. Lloyd completed his Bachelor Degree in Bible and Pastoral Studies from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1977.
Professionally, Lloyd has served as founder and General Overseer of the Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship of Lafayette, Louisiana since 1979. He taught as an adjunct professor at Fuller Seminary School of Theology in 2000. Lloyd taught as a visiting professor at Loyola Marymount University from 2001-2002. He served as Director of the African-American Studies Program at Azusa Pacific University from 1996-2001. Lloyd served as Pastor of Congregational Care at Greater Bethany Congregational Church of Los Angeles from 1997-1999.
Lloyd’s professional honors and memberships includes the American Association of Christian Counselors, recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award, City Council, Lafayette, LA, Lexington Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals and Who’s Who Among Students in Universities and Colleges, North Central Bible College, Minneapolis, MN.
Lloyd’s dissertation title is “Neighborliness and Reconciliation among African-Americans, U.S. Hispanics/Latinos, and Korean-Americans in Los Angeles.” Dr. Charles H. Kraft was Lloyd’s mentor during his doctoral studies.
Lloyd has traveled extensively; he leads biblical tours to the Holy Land, Egypt, Rome, Turkey, Greece and West Africa which includes Nigeria and Ghana. Recently, Dr. Lloyd and Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship and Global Ministries adopted schools in South Africa and Nigeria. Bishop Lloyd continues to minister full-time and has committed his life to teaching, preaching, educating and mentoring those who desire to walk in a higher call.

CHURCH HISTORY
Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship was originally founded and organized by Pastor Larry Lloyd on August 3,
1979. This full-gospel interdenominational church began as the result of a one year home bible study teaching.
The home study group also met once per week at the Heymann Recreation Center. Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Landry
were the first charter members to open their home to the teaching of God’s word under the leadership of Pastor
Lloyd.
Approximately one year later, the saving of the lost and healing of the sick through the manifest power of God; a group of dedicated believers were committed to establishing a new ministry that would reach all of Acadiana. One day, while attending a Catholic charismatic prayer meeting on the south side of Lafayette, Pastor Lloyd was given the name Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship, taken from the familiar scripture found in II Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
Approximately one year later the congregation acquired its first building on West University where Otis Domas Architect Engineering and Reproduction Company now operates its business located at 817 West University Avenue. The West University location is where SOL experienced its greatest growth after a modest and humbling beginning.
SOL purchased property and a small building located at 610 Maryview Farm Road in 1983. This location was later renovated and expanded to accommodate the Spirit of Liberty Christian Academy grades K-12. SOL Christian Academy became one of the first African-American schools in the Lafayette area. Pastor Lloyd’s anointing and teaching ability paved the way for the founding of the Interdenominational Theology Institution. An institute of higher learning for emerging spiritual leaders of Southwest Louisiana.
SOL sold its Maryview Farm Rd. property to the city of Lafayette in 2000. Pastor Lloyd returned to resume the senior pastor and leadership position in 2001 following a seven year interim, spent ministering in Los Angeles, California. The church held services at the Holidome located at 2032 NE
Evangeline Thruway and at various local hotels while awaiting
the construction and completion of the current location, 2841
Louisiana Avenue. June of 2002, SOL dedicated the new
facility and established itself as a ministry with global vision
and the mission mandate of taking the Gospel message to the
nations.

WELCOME TO THE PROPHETIC SCHOOL FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY
The Primary Goal of this School is to help students concentrate on a course of study that is specific to their calling or interest. It is a 2-3 year program that is affordable and classes will be held one day per week for 2 hours per class. The curriculum for completion of various courses is not overwhelming nor is it time consuming, Dr. Lloyd Ph.D. will be the main facilitator. There will also be other associate professors, theologians and biblical scholars who are accomplished within their particular field of study who will also be lecturing. You are guaranteed to receive exceptional teaching and assistance in your selected field and or major. Specialized Training will be available for students who would like to enhance their knowledge of the Bible, and for those who are seeking to concentrate on training to become a Pastor, Christian Leader, Deacon, Bible Teacher, Counselor, Evangelist, Christian Mentor, motivational Speaker, Etc. 8 Stupid Mistakes Smart People Make
1. They confuse being busy with being
productive.
2. They spend time pursing
bogus achievements.
3. They learn how to do
something and never do it.
4. They use the wrong
measurements to track their
progress.
5. They become obsessed with
making things perfect.
6. They wait until they feel 100%
ready before acting on an
opportunity.
7. They inundate themselves with
too many choice
8. They lack balance in their life.

This is the third message by Bishop Larry Lloyd in the year of 2012. All of Bishop's Sermons and Bible Studies will be taken from Chapter 12 from one of the Books of the Bible. Last Sunday, Bishop Lloyd message was to encourage people to prioritize their choices this year.
Essences of the Message:
Using the nation of Israel as our example, Bishop Larry Lloyd made several important points; one of which is that our choices should not be driven by expectations of people. The nation Israel was being rebuked by God for asking for a king like the nation of Ammonites. God made it clear through the prophet Samuel that "The Lord Your God was Your King."
In the Year 2012, we must choose again to fear the Lord and be obedient to his voice as it is written 1 Samuel 12:14. In verse 19, the people of Israel asked Samuel to pray for them that they would not die for asking for a king. The prophet responded " Do not fear, You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart."
If you had to choose again, make sure this year that you make choices that will profit you and elevate you in doing the will of God.
I believe that it would be wise for us to embrace the quote from the prophet Samuel in verse 22-25:
“
For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you His people. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you, but I will teach you good and the right way. Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king.”"
Life is full of choices, and we have an opportunity to choose again this year which is the year of divine and spiritual order.
